Steeped in the raw, live tradition of the late 60’s and early 70’s, The Soul Shop brings a refreshing, sophisticated energy to modern rock & roll.
Regardless of the bands they’ve played in or the stages they've shared with Graham Parker, Chris Whitley or Black Eyed Peas, front man Marc Teamaker, drummer Ray Herrmann and bassist J. Thomas Nixon are in the here and now.

Whether in their antique strewn rehearsal space or a packed concert hall they are electric and charged, bringing alive Teamaker’s unique combination of classic British and California rock peppered with Soul and seasoned with a hint of Bossa Nova.

Initially formed as a supporting band for songwriter/ guitarist /vocalist Marc Teamaker, it was apparent early on that this was a band, as each member put his stamp on the sound, with Nixon’s solid bass grooves providing the
foundation for Herrmann’s explosive bar-crossing drumming.

On stage and off, the trio clicks both musically and as friends.
Herrmann’s drumming is present on Teamaker’s four solo albums, and Nixon played in similar circles for years before colliding with Marc and Ray. Every rehearsal and gig incorporates good wine and food to create an intuitive bond that inspires the many unpredictably live moments that should not be missed.
